WFMY 2: Cyclist Rides Cross-Country To Raise Money For Injured Marines

Greensboro, NC – A former active duty Marine made a stop in Greensboro this afternoon on his bicycle ride from California.

Yes, you read correctly. A bicycle ride.

It’s called Operation Awakening.

Tim Tuomey started his ride April 20 at the Marine Corps. Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, CA. He will continue his trip to his former unit at Camp Lejeune here in North Carolina.

In all, he’s riding 3,355 miles, according to his website.

Tuomey’s ride is dedicated to raising money and awareness for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.

He stopped in Greensboro today to talk to groups at the Harley Davidson dealership.

Tuomey wants to raise $50,000 for the Semper Fi Fund.
