Veterans walk 100 miles from OKC to raise PTSD awareness

OKLAHOMA CITY — Veterans are walking 100 miles from Oklahoma City to raise awareness for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
The goal of Team Semper Fi is to walk 100 miles from Oklahoma City to Lawton. The group is a PTSD veterans awareness support group created by veterans for veterans.
Returning home from battle and adjusting to normalcy is a difficult task for many of our veterans. Paired with the pandemic isolation, many were cut off from getting the resources they desperately needed.
That was where Team Semper Fi, a PTSD awareness walking group, stepped in.
"It's been able to build the team up with guys again. We found walking these four or five days when we do these that guys really get close. A really tight bonding experience," said Joshua Emer, a veteran on Team Semper Fi.
Monday was the first day of their hike, so Emer said if you are a veteran, there is still time to join.
