MESA, Ariz. — One Valley family is celebrating the Fourth of July holiday in the best possible way. They’re welcoming home their Marine.
Cpl. Robert Bruce of Mesa was wounded in Afghanistan during a deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. A roadside bomb cost him both of his legs below the knees.
3TV’s Steve Bodinet said Saturday’s homecoming celebration was an event full of both smiles and tears. It wasn’t just a way to welcome Bruce home, it also was a fundraiser for the Semper Fi Fund, which helps wounded Marines — like Bruce — and their families.
