Santa Cruz, CA — The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund will be sending 24 members from Team Semper Fi to take part in Santa Cruz Sprint Triathlon on Saturday, August 13. The team is made up of injured U.S. military Veterans and Active Duty athletes that will be coming from across America to participate in the event. Several of team members will be taking part in the ParaTriathlon and Physically Challenged Divisions of the Triathlon.
Team Semper Fi (TSF) (http://semperfifund.org/team-semper-fi/) is an athletic sports team made up of more than 250 injured service members who compete in athletic events across the country. With their motto “Recovery Through Sport” Team Semper Fi is a rehabilitative sports program offered by the Semper Fi Fund. The team is made up of servicemen and women who have overcome significant challenges and refused to let their injuries prevent them from competing in athletic events.
The 5th Annual Santa Cruz Sprint Triathlon is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. The race challenges participants to a 750 yard swim at Cowell Beach where once they will then transition at Depot Park to bike two loops on the west of Santa Cruz. After completing the bike portion of the race, participants will then run a 5K course along scenic West Cliff Drive and complete their event at Depot Park.
