Eureka, Mo (KSDK) -- This weekend, local golfers will tee-off in honor of American heroes.
The Missouri Friends of Injured Marines General James T. Conway Charity Golf Outing is this Sunday at The Legends. The event raises more money for the Semper Fi Fund than any other such organization in the country.
Each year they honor an enlisted man who has been the recipient of the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund and this year Corporal Todd Nicely will be honored.
The outing is sold out, but of course you can still donate online.
Originally, the money was used to get moms and wives by the injured marines bedside. Now, they can do even more with the money.
"Now it's to the point where we do things like maybe we'll help with transitioning into a new home if they leave the marine corps, making it more accommodating to their particular problem they may have, whether it's a vehicle perhaps that will be especially made to accommodate their particular medical issue those are the kinds of things the money is going to," explains Allen Allred who co-founded the golf outing.
Last year the outing raised $200,000.
