As 2013 comes to an end, we are grateful beyond words for the generosity of our supporters—and have some incredibly exciting news to share.
Donors like you have come together in a big way to support the Semper Fi Fund in our mission to serve those who serve us all: You’ve met the Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation matching donations challenge and pledged $2 million in this holiday season to support our efforts.
But wait: There’s more! The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation has once again increased the maximum amount of the matching donations challenge. First, they doubled the $1 million GoDaddyTBRPF matching campaign to $2 million (Bob Parsons is the founder of GoDaddy)—and now they’ve upped the ante to $2.5 million!
That means the power of your donations doubles, too—that $2.5 million becomes $5 million to support our wounded and critically ill heroes.
All of which sounds like a lot of money—and make no mistake, it is—but it’s just the tip of the proverbial iceberg of what’s required to help the wounded service members who need our support.
Our military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan have thus far resulted in more than 50,000 seriously wounded service members—and hundreds of thousands more are suffering from traumatic brain injuries and post-traumatic stress.
These service members need more than our thanks, they need our help—now and for the rest of their lives. There is a great deal that all of us can do to make their lives better, but these efforts require money for family support, adaptive housing and transportation, specialized equipment, education and career transitioning, rehabilitative sports programs and so much more.
That’s why every dollar we receive counts. Imagine: If everyone in this country gave just one dollar in 2014 to support our service members, that would be more than $300 million to help those who’ve given so much to defend freedom on behalf of all of us.
(If you want to donate that dollar—or even a few more—you can do so right now on the GoDaddy/Bob and Renee Parsons Foundation Challenge donation page. Donate today, make sure your donation is included in the $2.5 million challenge and get that year-end tax deduction!)
“On behalf of everyone at the Semper Fi Fund, I want to thank all of our donors, particularly the Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation,” said Semper Fi Fund CEO Karen Guenther. “This is a great way to wrap up 2013 and to begin 2014—which I’m anticipating to be a year in which we’re able to help more service members and their families than ever before. Thank you, everyone—and a very happy and healthy new year to you and yours!”
