ST. LOUIS • A flag display in Forest Park commemorating the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks raised $100,000 for injured Marines.

The nearly 3,000 flags used in the display on Art Hill were offered for sale after the week long exhibit.

The money will go to the Missouri Friends of Injured Marines. A check will be formally handed over to the organization on Monday afternoon by Rick Randall, senior vice president of development for Pace Properties.

Randall came up with the idea to cover the hill between the St. Louis Art Museum and the Grand Basin with a flag for each person who was killed in the terrorist attacks. His inspiration was a similar display at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif.

Pace Properties pitched in money and manpower to assist in the project as did several other companies who have partnerships with Pace.
