On the evening of 9-11, as the World Trade Center lay in ruins, with thousands of injured and dead, war came to the shores of America for the first time since Pearl Harbor 60 years earlier. Panic, shock and confusion gripped the nation, unsure of what further attacks awaited us… Rising high above New York Harbor, above the smoke and destruction on Manhattan, the light from the Torch of the Statue of Liberty was undimmed.
Our servicemen and women risk their lives in the war zones in Afghanistan and Iraq and serve at bases all over the country and around the world. It's important for them to know that they are remembered. Having this beautiful new artwork on the wall of their barracks or base housing will make them proud. This new poster has received a tremendous response from the small number of soldiers and veterans who have seen it. Remember those who serve with this classic image called a new “national icon for combat vets and the VA.”
Inspired by the events of 9-11 and the many sacrifices service members have made since that fateful day, an Oregon artist (the son of a WWII Marine Corps vet) created this artwork and will be donating $4.45 per poster purchased to the Semper Fi Fund.
