Ongoing Giving Opportunities: Combat First Aid Guide

November 9th, 2013

This November, in honor of Veterans Day, Waterford Press re-releases the Combat First Aid guide, a pocket-sized essential that shows you what to do before emergency medical help arrives—and just might help you save a life. Developed with the assistance of certified emergency medical technicians and military medics, this guide provides a clear understanding of the basics of first aid and how to evaluate injuries and provide proper first aid for specific injuries.

An essential reference for non-medical personnel in disaster situations, Combat First aid teaches you how to learn to identify and treat severe trauma injuries in the field and give victims the best chance for survival. Weighing in at just 1 oz., this practically indestructible guide is the perfect size to throw in your pack, whoever you are and wherever you’re going.

Asked why they developed the Combat First Aid guide and its companion, Middle East Wildlife, Jill Smith, CEO of Waterford Press says. “We were approached by a family member of a serviceman in the Middle East. She asked if we had any wildlife guides for the Middle East, because her husband wanted to know what he was shaking out of his boots. We connected by email and I knew then and there that we had to help.”

Waterford Press then set out to create a new set of Pocket Guides for this military family, beginning with Middle East Wildlife. “Next, we reached out to a former military first responder to work with them to adapt their field training materials so that it could be contained in Pocket Guide format,” said James Kavanagh, President of Waterford Press. “The result is Combat First Aid, a field reference guide which we hope will play a small part in supporting military personnel as they complete their difficult jobs abroad.”

10% of net sales will be donated to the Semper Fi Fund in support of our injured and critically ill service members and their families.
