Wounded Warriors participate in Cutting Horse Classic 2 Competition

Nokesville, VA – As part of Semper Fi Fund’s Jinx McCain Horsemanship Program, ten select wounded Marines from the Marine Corps’ Wounded Warrior Regiment (WWR) will be participating in the Wounded Warrior Cutting Horse Classic 2 event at the D & M Cattle Company in Nokesville, Virginia this week.

The Cutting Horse Classic is a new program launched by the WWR earlier this year. At the inaugural event in July 2011, rider Marine veteran Lee Randles stated, “The Cutting Horse Classic is an activity that helps service members learn how to separate cattle through cutting horse techniques and it also helps them with their confidence, agility and ability to make quick decisions. It gives us a mental and physical challenge and the training to overcome it.”

During this week-long event, riders will enhance their horsemanship skills and be given the opportunity to strengthen themselves in their recoveries, both physically and mentally. On the last day of the event, Friday, October 21, the riders will participate in a competition. The top participant will be awarded a trophy and bragging rights as “top rider” for the event.
