Semper Fi Fund Receives Grant from Million Dollar Round Table Foundation

OCEANSIDE, California — The Million Dollar Round Table Foundation has awarded a $9,000 grant to the Semper Fi Fund, a nonprofit that provides immediate financial assistance and support for post-9/11 wounded, critically ill and injured service members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The grant funding will be used to support the 2017 Semper Fi Fund Kids Camp, a unique program dedicated to providing support to the children of our wounded, critically ill and injured service members.

Through its global grants programs, the MDRT Foundation is committed to building stronger families and communities around the globe. This year, the MDRT Foundation will award more than $1 million in MDRT member-endorsed grants to more than 200 charitable organizations worldwide.

Representing the MDRT Foundation, Patricia L. Krarup, MSFS, ChFC, sponsored Semper Fi Fund for a grant this year.

“Our Kids Camp is near and dear to our entire team,” said Semper Fi Fund President, CEO and Founder Karen Guenther. “Our children have unique stresses and when they are together and with their mentors they have unconditional love and acceptance. No one understands like another child who is living with the same challenges. Bringing them together is healing for the entire family. The education and support provided to these children can help make all the difference in their coping and resiliency as they travel the road to recovery with their family.”

The Semper Fi Fund Kids Camp provides a unique experience for the children of wounded, critically ill and injured military members. When an injury or illness happens to a loved one, the whole family unit is impacted. As an effort to support the entire family, this experience helps touch the lives of military children in a positive, powerful way.

During the camp, kids are paired with mentors — high school students recommended for the role based on their leadership and commitment. As a child of a military family, they understand the unique needs of the program participants. Mentors spend the week with camp participants, beginning an adventure they will continue to take together throughout the school year.

Semper Fi Fund will host three Kids Camp programs this summer; they will take place in North Carolina, California and Texas. Kids Camp is completely free to children of service members eligible for assistance from the Semper Fi Fund. All costs, including transportation, are included.
