The Semper Fi Fund surpasses $50 Million of assistance given to injured service members and their families!

Camp Pendleton, CA – After recently celebrating its 7th anniversary, the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund is proud to announce that it has surpassed the $50 million mark in the financial assistance it has given to injured and critically ill service members and their families. This historic achievement in the life of the Semper Fi Fund represents over 31,000 grants issued to more than 6,000 Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen and their families.

Our assistance helps with immediate financial needs that arise during hospitalization and recovery, as well as perpetuating needs such as home modifications, customized transportation and specialized equipment.

“It is through the incredible love and support of a grateful nation that we have been able to assist over 6,000 wounded servicemembers and their families since our first day of operations (May 17th, 2004), with over $50 million in assistance and 31,000 grants!!” states Karen Guenther, Semper Fi Fund Founder. “It is truly proof of the love our country has for our Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, and Coast Guardsmen!”

“Although the $50 million mark represents a great accomplishment for our Fund, and reflects the amazing support we have received for our services, it also represents a continued and growing need that our injured servicemembers have for our services.” said Karen “As announcements are made about troop reductions in Afghanistan, it’s important for everyone to understand that we must now meet the long-term needs that our injured will have for specially adapted homes and vehicles, specialized equipment, treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injuries, and transitional assistance with reintegration back into civilian life. Although most Americans see upcoming withdrawals as an impending end to combat operations, we find that our caseload is increasing and that long-term needs will present themselves for many years to come.”

As it has during the past 7 years, the Semper Fi Fund will continue to provide financial assistance and quality of life solutions to those who have been injured since the attacks of September 11, 2001, and we will continue to support them in their long-term recoveries in the years and decades to come.

“We wish to extend our sincerest thanks to the thousands of supporters who have helped and continue to help us in accomplishing our mission!” said Karen. “The needs for our services will continue for the foreseeable future and it is our goal to ensure that these needs are met and not forgotten.”
