Poway Polo Club hosts inaugural Inter-service military Polo to benefit injured service members

Poway, CA – The Poway Polo Club will be hosting their inaugural Inter-service Military Polo Match, October 8-9. The tournament, which takes place at Poway Polo Fields in Poway, California, will have polo teams from the Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force competing in a round-robin tournament. Admission is free but donations will be taken to support the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.

The event organizer, Dean Daggett states, “The Poway Polo Club is extremely honored to be able to host the First Inter-Service Military Polo Tournament, which has been in the planning stages for over a year. The tournament was originally conceived with the idea that it could be used as a means to provide assistance for our Military neighbors, in particular the Semper Fi Fund for the benefit of our wounded Service Members. To this end, we have received overwhelming support, not only from polo players around the Country that are traveling at their own expense to participate in the tournament, but also from a wide variety of donors who appreciate the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces. As a retired Marine, I am very proud to help, and stay connected with, our young Service Members who deserve our utmost respect and continued support.”

The event is open to everyone. On Saturday, October 8, gates will open at 8:00 AM. The civilian exhibition match will begin at 9:00 AM. The opening ceremony with a Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard will begin at 10:30 AM and the Military Polo Tournament will follow at 11:00 AM.
