Twenty injured military veterans have been in Utah attending the first-sever Semper Fi Fund and America’s Fund Mountain Biking Camp.
Tyler Burdick is one of them. He is originally from Salt Lake City, and is a United States Navy veteran and is a double below-the-knee amputee. He competes in many Team Semper Fi events such as the mountain biking camp. In addition to his Team Semper Fi events, he is a U.S. Paralympic Snowboarder.
At the event, the participants challenged themselves, and their perceptions of what is possible, at a mountain biking camp. The camp enables the athletes to recover thorugh sport as they explore various trails around Park City, some on handcycles adopted for their specific needs. The mountain bike camp is one of many programs the Semper Fi Fund and America’s Fund provide to wounded, injured and critically ill service members and their families that include direct financial assistance, emotional support and recuperative sports programs.
