U.S. Marine Corporal Yuriy Zmysly met his wife-to-be Aimee on October 6, 2004, right after he returned from his first deployment to Afghanistan. Aimee was just beginning her freshman year of college and it was love at first sight. They were engaged on January 23, 2005, just two days after Aimee’s birthday. He gave her a ring box, but it was empty. When she looked up, he was holding the ring and asked her to marry him.

Team Semper Fi shreds Tahoe with Disabled Sports and US Paralympic Club

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — Disabled Sports USA Far West hosted an adaptive ski event Jan. 24-26 for Team Semper Fi, a group of disabled service men and women.

Team Semper Fi members received high-level training from former and current Olympic and Paralympic athletes through a partnership with the US Paralympic Club.

Disabled Sports Technical Director and former Paralympian Bill Bowness coached Team Semper Fi members, who were training for competition level skiing and perhaps a future spot on the US Paralympic Ski Team. Read the rest of this entry »

Father and son team reach the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro to support the Semper Fi Fund!

Tanzania, Africa (UPDATE) – We are happy to report that father and son team, Mark and Marine Sergeant Brad Dixon, have made the incredible hike to the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro in support of the Semper Fi Fund!
