New Celebrity Apprentice Contestant Lisa Leslie: “So happy to give back!”

There is so much to love about WNBA legend Lisa Leslie:

On July 30, 2002, Lisa became the first woman to dunk the ball in a WNBA game — and that year became the first WNBA player to score over 3,000 points!

In 2001, 2004 and 2006, Lisa was named MVP of the WNBA — and in the two years where her team, the LA Sparks, won WNBA titles (2001 and 2002) she was MVP of the finals!

Lisa is the first team sport athlete to win four consecutive Olympic gold medals — it happened in 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008!

Not to mention, she holds an MBA and is the leader of a successful business, author of two books and a corporate spokesperson for numerous U.S. brands.

But as amazing as those accomplishments are (and they just scratch the surface of a truly remarkable athletic and professional career), we confess that we also love Lisa for her support of the Semper Fi Fund.

That support is so strong that when Lisa became a contestant on The New THE CELEBRITY APPRENTICE -- Season: 15 -- Pictured: Lisa Leslie -- (Photo by: Art Streiber/NBC)Celebrity Apprentice, she named the Semper Fi Fund as her charity. And while she was terminated in task 10 on January 30, 2017, she nevertheless raised $75,000 to help support post-9/11wounded, critically ill and injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.

“My grandfather, my father-in-law, my husband and my daughter served and continue to serve our country,” Lisa wrote on Instagram and posted to her account on Twitter. “I’m so proud to be an American … so happy to give back!” She also noted on Twitter that “It was an honor 2 fight for @SemperFiFund & #veterans. I play to win!”

“It was an honor for all of us at the Fund to be recognized by Lisa on The New Celebrity Apprentice,” said Karen Guenther, President, Executive Director and Founder of the Fund. “That sort of attention means a lot to any nonprofit, and I’m sure that a lot of people who may not have heard of us before will do some research, visit our website and see what we’re all about.

“On behalf of everyone at the Fund, Lisa, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your $75,000 donation,” Karen continued. “I promise you that every penny raised will work as hard as possible to provide desperately needed support to those who have sacrificed so much on behalf of us all.

“Wherever your path takes you next, Lisa, all of us at the Fund are cheering for you!”
