Marine Corps Marathon Offers Shuttles, Parking, Water Taxi & ‘Kiss n Run’ To Weekend Events from October 28-30

Metro opens at 7 a.m. on Marathon Day, Sunday, October 30

QUANTICO, VA (Oct. 24, 2016) – The start of the 41st Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) begins at 7:55 a.m.on Route 110 in Arlington, VA on Sunday, Oct. 30, but Metro does not open until 7 a.m. It’s for that reason the MCM has developed a robust transportation plan throughout MCM Weekend that provides free MCM-sponsored shuttles; free and paid parking areas; dedicated Uber service; a new “Kiss n’ Run” location for Marathon Day and even the Water Taxi from Old Town Alexandria to National Harbor.  

On Friday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 29, all MCM events, (except the MCM Kids Run), will be held at the event’s new headquarters, the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center at National Harbor, MD.

Getting to the Health & Fitness Expo

With limited parking available in National Harbor throughout MCM Weekend, the MCM is providing free shuttle service to/from the Health & Fitness Expo at the Gaylord Resort on Oct. 28 and 29.

Shuttles operate both days enabling the public to attend the Expo and forMCM and MCM10K runners to image002-2attend Packet Pick-up and receive essential event-day gear. Runners and their guests also can attend the variety of events hosted by the MCM at National Harbor.

MCM shuttles to the Expo will be available from the Eisenhower, Branch Avenue and Van Dorn Metro Stations.

Water Taxi Service also is available from Old Town Alexandria waterfront to the Gaylord from 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. The Potomac Riverboat Company is offering a $1 one-way discount and $2 off round-trip fare for runners boarding the water taxi during MCM Weekend – just mention ‘Marine Corps Marathon’ at the Alexandria City Marina Ticket Booth. Round-trip fare is $16 for adults and $10 for children.

In addition, the MCM has partnered with Uber for a special drop-off location in the plateau parking area, located near the Gaylord. Those using Uber for the first time can obtain a discount off their first ride. Getting to the MCM

On Marathon Day, “runners only” shuttles will be available from the free parking garage at 23rd & Crystal Drive in Crystal City, VA and also from paid parking garages that include both the Gaylord National Resort/National Harbor and the Ronald Regan Building in Washington, D.C.image004

Spectators can board free shuttles from the Gaylord to the Eisenhower Metro station, or can pay to park at at Pentagon City Mall in Crystal City, VA.

Runners and spectators also  can park at the Ballston Common Mall in Arlington and take the ART 42 bus from Ballston to Pentagon City from 5 to 9 a.m. The cost is $1.75 per ride and may be paid using theMetro SmarTrip card. Return to this location via Metro’sBallston-MU Station (Orange/Silver).

Metro – opens at 7 a.m. on Oct. 30

All MCM participants taking Metro should board the Blue or Yellow line to the Pentagon Metro Station to access Runners Village in the Pentagon North parking lot.

Event signage will direct runners to UPS Baggage Drop Off in Runners Village hosted by Hyundai, and to the Route 110 start line. The Arlington Cemetery Station (Blue) will not open until 9 a.m. on Marathon morning. This Metro station will serve spectators immediately following the Marathon start and those exiting the event throughout the day.

The MCM10K Start is located on Boundary Channel Drive, inside Pentagon North parking. The MCM10K starts at 9:15 a.m. Participants also can access the MCM10K start via the Pentagon Metro.

Kiss n’ Run

The MCM has also developed a location for runners to be dropped off on Marathon morning. Runners can walk to the MCM and MCM10K start lines by hopping out of a vehicle at the new “Kiss n’ Run,” location at the corner of Army Navy Drive and Fern Street. From there, they can proceed to Runners Village at Pentagon North parking.

 Post-Event Shuttles

Runners and spectators can depart from the Finish Festival in Rosslyn and return directly to the parking area in Crystal City. These shuttles are parked at the corner of Oak Street and Wilson Boulevard in the Finish Festival.

Post-Event Uber Service

An Uber stand will be located in the MCM Finish Festival on the corner of 19th and Lynn Streets. Runners/spectators can also access Uber through the MCM App. Taxis will also be available in this location.
