Enter Sandbag Challenge 2018
Lido Beach, NY – Kyle Finnerty served in the Marine Corps and now, as a civilian, he is planning the third Enter Sandbag Challenge to help raise funds for the Semper Fi Fund and wounded, critically ill, and injured members of the US Armed Forces. The Challenge: 150 Burpees, Run 1 mile, 150 Pushups, Run 1 mile, 250 Squats, Run 1 mile, 100 Sandbag Get-ups, Run 1 mile – will be performed in teams of two. Each team will have one 35lb sandbag that cannot be put down for the duration of the event. Teammates can divide the work however they want, but only one can be working at a time. The teams must complete the runs together, and their time will not stop until both teammates cross the finish line. With the exception of the burpees, the individual performing the exercise will be the one holding the sandbag. If thesandbag touches the ground at any time, each teammate must stop and complete 20 burpees.
The physical exertion and mental focus required not only in the event, but in the preparation leading up to it, serve as a reminder of the hard work and sacrifice our military endures on a regular basis. The 35lb sandbag is a gentle nod toward the excess weight, both figurative and literal, that those in the Armed Forces continuously bear.
