ENC veteran speaks on how wilderness therapy helped with her PTSD
NEW BERN, Craven County — A Marine Corps veteran coping with PTSD has found a program she said works, it’s called wilderness therapy.
Retired Captain with the United States Marine Corps Wendy Clough said being active outside changed her life and helped improve her mental health.
“Veterans don’t like to ask for help for the most part, we tend to isolate ourselves," said Clough.
Clough spent 20 years in the Marine Corps and serving her country is something she said she’d do all over again if she could.
But sometimes, the aftermath, including her struggle with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, can be challenging.
