Puerto Rico – Jose is one of our honorable injured service members on Team Semper Fi. He received a grant from the Semper Fi Fund to help with his recovery, and while he remains active he wants to pay it forward by fundraising to help other service members.
Lady Bird Hike and Bike Trail –Friends and family have asked, "what do you want to do for your 40th birthday?" I decided while jogging and thinking about this question. I hope that everyone participates with me. I want two things wrapped up into one event. First, a gesture of defiance to the BIG 40. Second, a gesture of gratitude. On February 23rd, I will be at Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail here in Austin and I'm going to run. I'm going to run until I can't run anymore. I'm going to do it for me and I'm going to do it for those that have made my 40 years possible, our veterans. For those that have sacrified their bodies, their minds and their families to ensure my family is safe. For my dad, my wife's grandfather and friends that served.
I want everyone out there to decide how much you want to give for every mile I run. The most I have run at one time in the last two years is 8 miles and I have not trained for this other than jogging 15 to 20 miles a week. Let's see how these old knees hold up!
Friends and family should come down to the trail and run with me. Those that don't want to run can camp out on the Zilker lawn and wave on each lap. You'll find us in Zilker at Lou Neff Point. We will make a little bit of difference for a few wounded veterans. Please join me, come on, its my 40th birthday! – Edward Wells

Six days after the incident, Shurvon's brain was deprived of oxygen, resulting in his traumatic brain injury. Shurvon is now paralyzed and unable to communicate with speech. SAN MARCOS, Calif. – A Southern California ice hockey team comprised of active and former service members made a huge play Jan. 13 when they presented the Semper Fi Fund with a check for $1,400.

Thank you to ALL of you for your hard work, dedication and support! Through all kinds of weather, injuries and a possible Government shut down, you dedicated a good part of this past year to training and fundraising for our injured and critically ill service members. What an outstanding accomplishment you have made. At this year's marathon you were part of the largest charity team in the Marine Corps Marathon.
With more than 1,000 of you, together you have raised over $737,028 and we can still apply donations to your totals through December 31st, so please help make this the best year yet!!
We thank you so much for not only raising funds, but most importantly, raising awareness of the needs of our injured and critically ill service members. The MCM was established in 1976, and as of 2009 the MCM became the fourth largest marathon in the United States and the eighth largest in the world with runners from more than 50 participating countries.
The race typically occurs a few weeks before the United States Marine Corps birthday on November 10. The Marine Corps Marathon is known as "The People's Marathon" because it is open to all runners ages 14 and above, and is the largest marathon not to offer prize money.
Thank you to all of our runners and supporters for your dedication to our mission of "serving those who preserve our freedom!"
