Boise Community Welcomes Home Local Hero Wounded in Afghanistan

Boise, ID – It has been seven months since Boise native Marine Sgt Thomas Linville was injured in Afghanistan. On Thursday, August 25, the Boise community will be welcoming him home for the first time with a party to show their thanks for his service to our country. Since his injury Sgt Linville has been recovering in San Diego, California. The homecoming will take place at The Lift Bar and Grill in Boise. During the festivities, family members and friends will be hosting a fundraiser to raise support for all those who serve with proceeds being donated to the Semper Fi Fund. 5th Annual Major McClung Memorial Run to benefit Semper Fi Fund

Whidbey Island, WA — On Saturday, August 13 runners will be participating in the 5th Annual Major McClung Memorial Run. The race is dedicated in memory of Marine Major Megan McClung, the first female Marine Corps officer killed in combat during the Iraq War.

Major McClung was serving as a public affairs officer in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, when she was killed by an improvised explosive device. The blast destroyed her Humvee and killed two other occupants in the vehicle. Read the rest of this entry »

6th Annual PFC Ryan Jerabek Memorial Run honors Wisconsin hero and those who serve!

Hobart, WI — On Saturday, August 13 runners will be taking on the Jerabek Challenge in honor Marine Private First Class Ryan Jerabek who died in combat in Iraq in 2004. Proceeds from the run will be given to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.

In honor of the event, the State of Wisconsin Office of the Governor has issued a Proclamation stating that Saturday, August 13, 2011 is "PFC Ryan Jerabek - Semper Fi Fund Day" throughout the state of Wisconsin. Read the rest of this entry »

4th Annual Wounded Warrior Car Show to benefit Semper Fi Fund

Long Beach, CA On Sunday August 14, Semper Fi Fund supporter Mike Green is hosting one of Long Beach's favorite car events, the 4th Annual Wounded Warrior Car Show. This annual car show benefits the Semper Fi Fund.

Car clubs from around the state will motor to the Wyotech Campus in Long Beach to show off their Pre-1974 American cars and trucks as well as their tremendous support for our wounded. Beltsville, MD — As a triple amputee, Marine Corporal (Cpl) Todd Love was not sure he would be able to drive again but now he is one step closer to overcoming that obstacle. This past week Cpl Love and his family were presented with a specially adapted vehicle by the Semper Fi Fund with coordination by Help for Our Heroes (HOMH).

Miles for Marines run to honor all who have served in US Marine Corps!

Rockhill, SC - Miles For Marines will host their “Crucible 15K” and “Double-Time 5K” trail race this Saturday at the Westminster Park in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The run was set up in 2009 to honor of all who have served with the U.S. Marine Corps. There will also be a “Run for a Marine, 1 Mile” for children 10 years old and under. The Semper Fi Fund celebrates the launch of the Jinx McCain Warrior Riding Program in opening ceremony on Camp Pendleton!

Camp Pendleton, CA - On June 22, 2011 the Semper Fi Fund (SFF) will celebrate the launch of the new Jinx McCain Warrior Riding Program on Camp Pendleton with a BBQ and presentation. The Jinx McCain Warrior Riding Program is a new component of the Semper Fi Fund's (SFF) Team Semper Fi (TSF). The riding program will provide horsemanship clinics to wounded service members and their families.

The program is being dedicated in memory of Col Jinx McCain, USMC. Jinx was a 4-time Purple Heart recipient from Iwo Jima, Korea, and Vietnam. While stationed at Camp Pendleton in the 1960's Jinx would host trail rides for the amputees from Vietnam. His daughter still works at the Camp Pendleton stables and carries on his legacy. We are honored to host this event to recognize Jinx McCain's service to our country and dedication for helping our nation's wounded. The USMC Mounted Color Guard from Marine Corps Logistics Base, Barstow, California will be on hand for the ceremony.

Semper Fi Fund to be highlighted and Missouri’s Corporal Justin McLoud to throw out first pitch at Cardinals’ game!

Saint Louis, MO -- The Semper Fi Fund (SFF) will be highlighted and Corporal Justin McLoud, USMC will be throwing out the first pitch, as part of the St. Louis Cardinals' opening ceremonies for their June 22, 2011 game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Also taking part in the ceremony will be Lance Corporal Tyler Huffman, USMC (wounded in action, paralyzed from waist-down) who will showcase his new, specially adapted Ford F-150 on the field, which was partially funded by the Semper Fi Fund. Corporal McLoud and Lance Corporal Huffman will greeted on the field by General and Mrs. James T. Conway (34th Commandant of the Marine Corps and SFF Board members), Cpl. Todd Nicely, USMC (wounded in action, quadruple amputee), and LCpl Mark Meirink, USMC (wounded in action, single amputee) and Lisa Holden (SFF Representative).
