5 Things the Semper Fi Fund is Thankful For

As you prepare for this week’s Thanksgiving holiday, I — and all of us here at the Semper Fi Fund — hope you’ll take a moment along the way to give thanks to all of those in the military who serve to preserve freedom for all Americans.

They’re tops on our list of five things we’re thankful for, and I hope they’re tops on yours, too:

1. Our service members:

These incredible men and women are the backbone of our nation. Whether stationed here in the U.S. or overseas at flashpoints and support positions around the globe, each of these remarkable people is dedicating their life to preserving the freedoms that you and I enjoy on a daily basis. They have answered a higher calling with their service, and all Americans owe them a deep debt of gratitude.

2. And their families:

From those whose spouses will be overseas this Thanksgiving to those who rush to bedsides during difficult times to those who serve as caretakers for chronic conditions suffered as a result of service to our nation, the families of our service members are too often overlooked. Nevertheless, they sacrifice for us all daily and remain a critical part of our nation’s military.

3. Our incredible staff:

You see the logo, you see the “Semper Fi Fund” name, but behind it all is a staff of dedicated and energetic professional that, in my humble opinion, is second to none in the nonprofit arena. These people work tirelessly 24/7/365 to deliver assistance to our post-9/11 service members and their families in ways that makes us the gold standard of veteran nonprofits. I couldn’t be prouder or more grateful.

4. Our amazing volunteers:

Everything I just said about our staff, I’ll say it again for our volunteers. All of us at the Fund are so fortunate to be blessed with a support system that is exemplary in every way. The quality and character of our volunteers is nothing short of exceptional — and is genuinely a testament to the respect that all Americans have for our service members.

5. Our generous supporters:

We couldn’t do any of the work we do without the incredible generosity of our supporters. And because our overhead is so low, every dollar donated works incredibly hard — plus, thanks to the Double Down for Veterans matching challenge, those hard-working dollars donated before December 31st  work twice as hard. On behalf of all of us at the Semper Fi Fund, I want to take this opportunity to wish you and yours the very healthiest and happiest of Thanksgiving holidays.

Best wishes from our family to yours,

Karen Guenther
