The 38th Officer Candidate Class Supports the Semper Fi Fund

October 19th, 2013

San Diego, CA - The 38th Officer Candidate Class reunited in San Diego, CA this year and reached out to the Semper Fi Fund again to be their honored guest. This class gathered as many of their Marines as they could about 13 years ago and formed their first big reunion back in 2003 at Quantico. Since then, all of the men and their wives have been reuniting every couple of years to go down memory lane.

These men came into the Marine Corps at a difficult time. They were all commissioned on 17 December 1965 and many marched straight into Vietnam after The Basic School. Their class had 33 killed in Vietnam including John Bobo who was awarded the Medal of Honor. The Semper Fi Fund had Julian Torres, a Marine and double amputee who has been assisted by the Semper Fi Fund, speak to all of the Vietnam veterans. Julian connected with these men on an amazing level stating that he wouldn’t be where he is today without the help and encouragement from a Vietnam veteran and the Semper Fi Fund.

The families of the 38th OCC generously donated $5,000 to the Semper Fi Fund because they believe in what we do. Thank you so much for your support and for letting the Semper Fi Fund be a part of your fantastic reunion!
