Miles for Marines run to honor all who have served in US Marine Corps!

June 24th, 2011

Rockhill, SC - Miles For Marines will host their “Crucible 15K” and “Double-Time 5K” trail race this Saturday at the Westminster Park in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The run was set up in 2009 to honor of all who have served with the U.S. Marine Corps. There will also be a “Run for a Marine, 1 Mile” for children 10 years old and under. Children will have the opportunity to select from a list of injured Marines currently at Walter Reed Hospital and run a mile for them.

This year’s run is being held in dedication of Lance Corporal Kyle Carpenter, USMC, who is recovering from injuries suffered after taking a direct blast from a hand grenade on November 21st, 2010, while serving in Afghanistan.

The courses are both challenging and scenic, winding along the banks of the Catawba River. The organizers hope that as participants run the courses they are reminded of the discipline, self sacrifice and rigorous training that Marines endure in effort to better serve our nation and keep us safe. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Semper Fi Fund.
