Helenville, WI – On June 1, Nic Doucette and Gabe Vasquez, both US Marines, will embark on a long, 2,522 mile kayaking trip from the source of the Mississippi River to the sea. Starting in Lake Itasca, Minnesota, traveling through Morgan City, Louisiana, the last community before ending in the Gulf of Mexico. You can track their progress and learn more about their adventure on Nic’s webpage and Facebook page.

Nic and Gabe are taking on this challenge to raise funds for the Semper Fi Fund and to honor the service of their fellow Marines, Sgt Gabriel Martinez and Cpl Justin Gaertner, who both were injured by an IED (improvised explosive device) in Afghanistan and were assisted by the Semper Fi Fund.

Their goal is to raise $35,000 and you can help by visiting their fundraising websites:

The Semper Fi Fund certainly appreciates these Marines for raising funds and awareness of the needs of their fellow Service Members.
