The Semper Fi Fund sends our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Marine Corporal Christopher D. Bordoni. On Tuesday, April 3, 2012 Cpl Bordoni passed away due to injuries he sustained while serving in Afghanistan in January, 2012.
Cpl Bordoni was on patrol in the Kajaki district in the southern Helmand province of Afghanistan when a suicide bomber on a motorcycle exploded a device that critically injured him, as well as injured and killed several civilians, military personnel and police.
Since January, Cpl Bordoni has been receiving treatment at San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) in San Antonio, Texas. His family has been at his bedside these past few months until his passing.
Cpl Bordoni grew up in Ithaca, New York, and will be honored by his family, friends and our nation at a funeral service on April 12 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Ithaca. Following the service, he will be the buried with full military honors at Calvary Cemetery. The service is open to the public.
The Semper Fi Fund has had the privilege of getting to know and supporting Cpl Bordoni and his family while they were at (SAMMC) and we are truly saddened by his passing. We will keep Cpl Bordoni and his family in our thoughts and prayers and remember him always for his ultimate sacrifice to make the world a better place.
