SAN MARCOS, Calif. – A Southern California ice hockey team comprised of active and former service members made a huge play Jan. 13 when they presented the Semper Fi Fund with a check for $1,400.
The team, Patriots Hockey, raised the money at the ECHL’s Ontario Reign game Dec. 1 in Ontario, Calif. After spending three periods and an overtime in the corridors of Citizens Business Bank Arena, home of the Reign, raising money for the fund by selling Patriots Hockey t-shirts and accepting donations, the team then took the ice to take on Ontario Fire Department’s hockey team. MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR, Calif. – At 6 a.m., with the cold San Diego breeze making them shiver, volunteers with the Officers' Wives' Club hosted the second annual Flight Line Dash aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., Jan. 12.
Approximately 500 members of the San Diego community ran to support and raise money for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, the MCAS Miramar Exceptional Family Member Program, the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society and the MCAS Miramar Children's Library. Read the rest of this entry »

Michael Johnston is a paratriathlete with hopes of competing in the sport’s Paralympic Games debut in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Through all kinds of weather, injuries and a possible Government shut down, you dedicated a good part of this past year to training and fundraising for our injured and critically ill service members. What an outstanding accomplishment you have made. At this year's marathon you were part of the largest charity team in the Marine Corps Marathon.
With more than 1,000 of you, together you have raised over $737,028 and we can still apply donations to your totals through December 31st, so please help make this the best year yet!!
We thank you so much for not only raising funds, but most importantly, raising awareness of the needs of our injured and critically ill service members. ABOUT THE MARINE CORPS MARATHON:
The MCM was established in 1976, and as of 2009 the MCM became the fourth largest marathon in the United States and the eighth largest in the world with runners from more than 50 participating countries.
The race typically occurs a few weeks before the United States Marine Corps birthday on November 10. The Marine Corps Marathon is known as "The People's Marathon" because it is open to all runners ages 14 and above, and is the largest marathon not to offer prize money.

Military personnel are committing suicide at a rate greater than they are dying in battle. In 2011, there were 283 confirmed Army, Reserve, and National Guard suicides, according to the Defense Department. Last year, it appears, the tolling bells rang an even sadder result. In the first 11 months of 2012, there were 303 "potential" suicides among the same group, with 210 so far confirmed by investigators. In contrast, the Stars and Stripes military newspaper reports that, as of Dec. 7, 212 soldiers had been killed in Afghanistan last year. Read the rest of this entry »
On Friday December 7th, Go Daddy hosted a huge year-end Holiday party at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ where Bob and Renee Parsons presented the Semper Fi Fund with checks totaling $2 million. The first $1 million check came from generous donors, including Go Daddy customers, the second $1 million check represented the matching funds from Go Daddy and the Bob and Renee Parsons Foundation who began their United States Marine Corps 237th birthday tribute with matching gifts campaign in November. On hand were approximately 5,000 employees and guests including Nascar driver Danica Patrick and IndyCar star James Hinchcliffe. Inspired by the season of hope and giving, Park Hyatt Aviara Resort and Haim Salon presented Semper Fi Fund service member, Petty Officer Bryan Fazio, with a beautiful decorated tree to say thank you for his brave service to our country. As a cancer survivor, Bryan is an amazing inspiration and symbol of hope to his fellow injured and ill service members. He is very grateful to the Semper Fi Fund for assisting him and his family during the difficult stages of his fight against cancer.
