38th Westlake Village Invitational Golf Tournament

June 07, 2008

Westlake Village Golf Club, Westlake Village, CA

UPDATE: A wonderful time was had by all at this year’s Invitational Tournament. The weather was perfect and the turnout was good. During the awards presentation, most of us had an invigorating experience. Many in the audience were brought to tears when Mr. Mike Melia spoke about his son, LCpl Anthony Melia, USMC. LCpl Melia was killed in Ramadi in 2007. It was a terrible loss. He was the first and only young man from Thousand Oaks to lose his life. The family struggles through each and every day. As Mr. Melia said, they only have those wonderful memories of him and what he was going to do upon his return from Iraq. We are proud to announce we were able to raise $3,025 that will be donated In Memory Of LCpl Anthony Melia, USMC.

We also wanted to acknowledge and thank Mr. Roger Brautigan, Undersecretary of Veterans Affairs for the State of California, who also spoke to the audience of the need to support our servicemen especially in their time of need. He was wonderful and we were so glad to have him speak to us on the sacrifice that is being made in our names.

Westlake Village Men’s Golf Club will hold a fund raising event for the purpose of supporting the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund (IMSFF). The fundraiser will be held during the club’s 38th Annual Invitational Tournament which will be held on June 7th, 2008 at Westlake Village Golf Club in Westlake Village, CA. BBQ lunch to follow.
