BOSTON – A week after the Boston Marathon bombings, the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Monday returned control of the crime scene to the city, as local businesses and Bostonians tried to return to normalcy.

Mayor Thomas Menino earlier announced a five-point plan to open much of the Back Bay neighborhood a week after two bombs killed three people and injured more than 170 last Monday near the marathon finish line. Authorities had cut off access to street and pedestrian traffic to a large swath of the area near Copley Square after the bombings, citing the needs of the investigation and possible contamination. Liberty Run Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5k

Liberty State Park, NJ – Liberty Run Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5k will take place on Friday May 24, 2013 – Saturday May 25, 2013 at Liberty State Park. The focus of this run is to celebrate the military during Fleet Week in NYC, as well as rebuild the New Jersey coast after Hurricane Sandy (charity partners reflect this mission). The Semper Fi Fund is a beneficiary of this event.

Mt. Kilimanjaro Hike

Tanzania, Africa – Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcanic mountain in Kilimanjaro National Park, Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania. It is the highest mountain in Tanzania, the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world at 19,341 feet above sea level. This statistical significance helped Mount Kilimanjaro secure the position as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa.

Father and son team, Mark and Marine Sergeant Brad Dixon, will hike the incredible Mt. Kilimanjaro in an attempt to raise $1 for each foot to the summit elevation - $19,341 - for our wounded and critically ill service members and the Semper Fi Fund. Baltimore, VA – This is the 5thannual event hosted by The Quinntessential Gentleman. Bourbon & Bowties is The Quinntessential Gentleman's annual charity fundraiser, which raises money once a year benefitting a local Baltimore charity and a national charity.

This year's local charity is Healthcare for the Homeless (HCH). Their mission is to prevent and end homelessness for vulnerable individuals and families by providing quality, integrated health care and promoting access to affordable housing and sustainable incomes through direct service, advocacy, and community engagement. The national charity is the Semper Fi Fund which is honored to be sharing the benefits from this fundraiser with such a worthwhile cause.

Tickets for the event are $75 and it includes food and beverage, live music, silent/live auctions, a raffle and a Rocky Patel Cigar. The event will be catered by Capital Grille and music by the Bumper Jacksons playing Traditional Jazz, Ragtime and Pre-War Country. We ask attendees to wear a bowtie during the day of the event to raise awareness for the charities we will be supporting and a sign of commitment to making Baltimore a little more handsome (beautiful).
