DALE CITY, Va. – For the fifth year-in-a-row the Semper Fi Fund will be sending out more than 10,700 holiday ornaments to Marines who have been wounded since the attacks of 9-11 and are Purple Heart recipients. To help with packing and shipping the ornaments, the Semper Fi Fund will be hosting its annual “Purple Heart Ornament Packing Party” at the VFW Post 1503 in Dale City. Read the rest of this entry »

Carlsbad - CA To continue the wonderful tradition of the “Festival of Trees,” we would like to invite you to join us in our efforts to support the local military families of North County.

100% of the “net” proceeds will be donated to the Semper Fi Fund.

Our theme this year is “Park Hyatt’s of North America” and showcase the beautiful locations of each along with two beautiful patriotic themed trees! All trees are professionally designed and will be featured in the hotel lobby during a month-long silent auction from November 28 – December 22.

However, the holiday décor will remain for all to enjoy through December 27. Hotel guests and local visitors will be able to place bids on their favorite tree in hopes of having the winning bid to take home their holiday tree.

25 Hours of Thunderhill 2013

Willows, CA – For the fourth year in a row, Davidson Racing, the road racing team based out of Sparks, Nevada owned by Bob Davidson and managed by long-time NASA racer and crew chief Ron Carroll, will participate in the longest endurance car race in the world, 25 Hours of Thunderhill (see highlights from last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Yt-MtCDbDQ). The team will be racing two cars this year; the first will be a BMW powered Norma sports racer whose drivers will be: Bob Davidson, Brian Frisselle, Remo Ruscitti, Randy Pobst and Michael Valiante. The 2nd car will be an Elan V8 powered DR eagle prototype whose drivers will be: Bob Davidson, Burt Frisselle, Brandon Kraus, Anthony Lazzaro and Mark Wilkins. 100 percent of the Davidson Racing Team's race proceeds will be donated to the Semper Fi Fund. Team Semper Fi – Athlete Update – 2013 Veteran’s Day edition

Sgt Jon Lujan (Incomplet Spinal Cord Injury) - Alpine Skiing
Jon Lujan, who served in the Marine Corps for nearly eight years, suffered two ruptured discs in his back during his missions in Kuwait. During the surgery to repair his back, his spinal cord was damaged and initially Lujan was left unable to feel either leg. Following the advice of a fellow wounded veteran, Lujan took to sport for rehabilitation, eventually becoming a ski racer. He was named to his first U.S. Paralympics Alpine Skiing National Team in 2012. In his first season with the team, Lujan earned three NorAm Cup silver medals. He is now attempting to qualify for his first Paralympic Winter Games.

Fox 45 Baltimore – Marine Corps Vet Cycling From ME to CA

Baltimore, MD - A Marine Corps Veteran is cycling across America, going from Maine to California. Today in Howard County, FOX45 had the privilege of getting the meet the double amputee, who hopes to 'pay it forward.'

Rob Jones, a Marine Corps Veteran, was wounded in Afghanistan in 2011, when the IED he was searching for exploded. Jones lost both of his legs below the knee. Jones told FOX45 he wanted to do an adventure after he finished recovering.
