Ride for Semper Fi riders cycle 430 miles for injured service members!

San Diego, CA - After three and a half days and 430 miles across hot deserts and intense hills, 65 riders from the Ride for Semper Fi will arrive from Scottsdale, Arizona to San Diego, Califonria on Saturday, October 15. The riders are taking on the long and strenuous journey to raise awareness and support for injured Marines and Sailors. Runners hit the pavement for injured service members at the Long Beach Marathon

Long Beach, CA – Runners from all over California will take part in “California’s original and most scenic marathon” Sunday, and raise money and awareness for wounded Marines while they are at it.

Marines Hike for One Mission

North Carolina – A group of U.S. Marines are going above and beyond in what they are calling “the journey for injured Marines.”

Fortunate Sons, a group of 18 active-duty Marines, are planning to collectively hike the entire 1,000-mile North Carolina Mountains-to-Sea Trail” (MST) in the name of both charity and awareness. The 42-day journey begins October 2nd at Clingman’s Dome in the Great Smokey Mountains and ends at Jockey’s Ridge on the Outer Banks on Veterans Day weekend, November 13. More than 30 injured service members from Team Semper Fi take part in Tunnel to Towers Run

Brooklyn, NY – The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund (www.semperfifund.org) will be sending 36 team members from Team Semper Fi, to take part in the “Tunnel to Towers” race in Brooklyn. This is the third year the team has participated in the race.

The Tunnel to Towers Run is organized by the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. The run memorializes all who perished on September 11, 2001 and follows the heroic footsteps of Firefighter Stephen Siller, who raced on foot from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Towers and laid down his for others. More than 30 injured service members will attend special screening of “Dolphin Tale” in New York City to benefit the Semper Fi Fund!

New York, NY – In conjunction with the upcoming release of Alcon Entertainment’s “Dolphin Tale,” the makers of the film are hosting a special screening for the Semper Fi Fund (www.semperfifund.org) Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the AMC Loews Theatres,19th Street East 6, New York City, NY.

Approximately 200 supporters of the Semper Fi fund will be in attendance, to include more than 30 injured service members from the Semper Fi Fund's "Team Semper Fi" who will be in town for this weekend's “Tunnel to Towers” race in Brooklyn.

First ever U.S. Marines Cruise Day Car Show

Pasadena, CA – If the sound of roaring engines and the smell of gasoline gets your heart racing, then Sunday’s Marines Cruise Day Car Show is the place to be.

In-House Entertainment and The Council Car Club is hosting the first-ever U.S. Marines Car Show on Sunday, September 18. The event, which benefits the Semper Fi Fund, runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM with roll-in time before the event from 6:00 – 9:00 AM.

The Cruise Day Car Show isn’t only for car lovers, but is also a family event with something for everyone including food booths, vendors, music, and a 50/50 raffle. There will also be a special raffle for a 1964 Chevy Impala. Read the rest of this entry »

Riders gear up for Ride to the Flags to commemorate September 11

Point Mugu, CA – They ride to remember. More than 1,500 riders will take part in the 2011 Ride to the Flag event on September 11th. The ride commemorates September 11th and those who lost their lives in the attacks.

Ride to the Flags will begin at the Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu and end at the Pepperdine University. Registration opens at 10:00 AM at Los Posas Road, South of the base entrance where riders receive wristbands to enter the Naval Base for a Celebration of Freedom. Boise Community Welcomes Home Local Hero Wounded in Afghanistan

Boise, ID – It has been seven months since Boise native Marine Sgt Thomas Linville was injured in Afghanistan. On Thursday, August 25, the Boise community will be welcoming him home for the first time with a party to show their thanks for his service to our country. Since his injury Sgt Linville has been recovering in San Diego, California. The homecoming will take place at The Lift Bar and Grill in Boise. During the festivities, family members and friends will be hosting a fundraiser to raise support for all those who serve with proceeds being donated to the Semper Fi Fund. 5th Annual Major McClung Memorial Run to benefit Semper Fi Fund

Whidbey Island, WA — On Saturday, August 13 runners will be participating in the 5th Annual Major McClung Memorial Run. The race is dedicated in memory of Marine Major Megan McClung, the first female Marine Corps officer killed in combat during the Iraq War.

Major McClung was serving as a public affairs officer in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, when she was killed by an improvised explosive device. The blast destroyed her Humvee and killed two other occupants in the vehicle. Read the rest of this entry »
