Our Programs

Family Support Program

The Family Support Program provides direct financial assistance to OIF/OEF Marines wounded in combat or injured in combat-related training, members of other services wounded or injured while supporting OIF/OEF Marine units, families of these wounded and injured OIF/OEF veterans. This assistance is in the form of a check that the grant recipient can put toward the expenses that he or she feels are most pressing to help defray the expenses incurred during hospitalization through rehabilitation. Typically the families use this money to help with travel expenses, food, lodging, and for bills back home such as mortgage payments, car payments, utility bills and food for the rest of the family due to loss of income while at their loved one’s bedside.

Medical Support Program

This program provides financial assistance to OIF/OEF Marines and Sailors diagnosed with life threatening illness, members of other services diagnosed with life threatening illness while supporting OIF/OEF Marine units, and families of these seriously ill veterans. We have found the financial needs to be as great as those recovering from combat or training accidents.

Transportation Program

Modified transportation is vital for those who have lost limbs or who are paralyzed as a result of their injuries, to their success in moving forward. The cost of a modified vehicle can be significant-upwards of $40,000. IMSFF pays the balance after the VA loan is applied to a handicap vehicle so that the service member does not have the financial burden of car payment.

Housing Assistance Program

The majority of the OIF/OEF injured Marines and Sailors who are wheelchair bound or those with catastrophic injuries require assistance with their home post injury. IMSFF will grant up to $50,000 toward their home to ease the burden of house payments and financial strain. Handicap modifications are costly. For example, modifications are close to $25,000 for a modified bathroom, $30,000 to modify a kitchen, $7,000 to widen a doorway, and approximately $10,000 to install a handicap ramp. IMSFF will also grant financial assistance to those who get behind on their housing payments as a direct result of the injury or the cost of recovery and rehabilitation. Our goal is to help our wounded service members enjoy their home without the added financial burden of these extra costs.

Specialized Equipment Program

We cover the cost of any piece of specialized equipment that will improve the quality of life of our grant recipients with disabilities. These range from visual enhancement devices for the visually impaired, software programs and PDA’s (personal assistance devices) for those with traumatic brain injuries, specialized wheelchairs, and therapeutic mattresses for those with multiple injuries and burns.

Transition Assistance Program

This program provides for the cost of education, training, computers, software and equipment needed to pursue a new career and/or education opportunities. Our goal is to assist our wounded service members as they transition back into their communities or with a new career path.

Therapeutic Arts Program

Provides musical instruments and/or education, arts and art education, for physical, emotional, and mental therapeutic rehabilitation.
